As per vision of GoI and GoR to electrify all Rural UE villages/Dhanies and assigned mandate GoR under budget announcement and 24x7 PFA programme by GoI, RREC has taken up programme for electrification of UE villages and Dhanies of Rajasthan through SPV Off-grid Systems during 2015-16. Tentative target of 58000 Nos. such household electrification is estimated in UE villages & Dhanies as per list provided by Discoms.

Programme Guidelines :
This programme is only for house holds of UE villages and UE Dhanies which are recommended by DISCOMs to RREC for taking up for electrification through off-grid SPV systems only.

Under this programme three different capacity models of off-grid SPV Home systems are available. Total 95% subsidy support [ 75% from Rural Electrification corporation (REC), GoI and 20% from State Government ] is being provided to beneficiaries under this programme for 37 Wp model and 100 Wp model. For 200 Wp model subsidy equivalent to 100 Wp system will be provided. The details these three models with price, allowed subsidy and beneficiary share are as under :

Solar water heating systems include storage tanks and solar collectors. Solar water heaters use the sun to heat either water or a heat-transfer fluid in the collector. Most solar water heaters require a well-insulated storage tank. The tank can be a modified standard water heater, but it is usually larger and very well insulated. Solar storage tanks have an additional outlet and inlet connected to and from the collector. In two-tank systems, the solar water heater preheats water before it enters the conventional water heater. In one-tank systems, the back-up heater is combined with the solar storage in one tank.

Advantages
• Solar thermal panels take up less space than solar PV panels. This is because usually a typical house would only require 2-3 panels at 2m x 1m each to heat the water in their home. For solar PV panels a typical array might have 10-16 So homes where the roof space is compromised or the majority is in the shade, solar thermal panels may be the most appropriate to install.
• They are efficient. Approximately 80% radiation is turned into heat energy.
• Relatively simple to install, operate and maintain.
• Savings in transmission and distribution losses
• They are cheaper to install than solar PV panels because you only need 2-3 panels. For a typical domestic installation, the cost is low.
• Accelerated depreciation benefits for industrial and commercial buildings.
• Local employment generation
• Most popular and globally accepted configuration.
There is no subsidy currently. Everyone is applicable .
